March 7, 1909 - Roger Revelle’s birthday

Upon receiving the National Medal of Science in 1990, Revelle told a reporter,
“I got it for being the grandfather of the greenhouse effect.”

Revelle was also the driving force in the founding of
the University of California, San Diego campus.
