The SUPER H20 Sun Shower!

photoFor some odd reason, geologists are willing to admit the length of time they have gone without a shower while in the field...

"Three weeks in the Lost River Range in Idaho (WITHOUT benefit of bathing... you don't notice or care anymore after about a week. Is geology good preparation to be a bag lady?"

"...longest time in the field: six weeks straight (and only 2 hot showers!) in East Greenland"

but when they do want to get clean, the SUPER H2O Sun Shower is one of the more popular methods! You fill the bag up with water in the morning, and let it heat up while you are out toiling in your field area. Voilá! You come home after a long hard day's work to a bag of warm water!

Unclear on the concept or just optimistic? Please note: Long hard days in the field and the thought of a warm shower can cause bouts of delusion in geologists. Case in point, Sarah Roeske's optimistic attempts to set up a sun shower in Alaska during a period of 35° weather. But before you write her off as a total loony, be aware that the sun shower is able to raise glacial water (33°) to a moderate temperature (70°) in 55° weather!
