Okay, it really wasn't a pea-green boat but the R/V Atlantis.
And no, it wasn't a "Recreational Vehicle RV" but a "Research Vessel R/V".
UCD Geology's Jim McClain and Rob Zierenberg participated in a research cruise over the hydrothermally active East Pacific Rise. For 19 days and nights, the science team (headed by Dr. Janet Voight of the Field Museum) explored the seafloor with the manned research submersible ALVIN.
